You’re either in love with them or you’re with the rest of us who hate Manchester United. Here are the five biggest reasons why we’re all united in the hate of ManUre.
5. United Fans are Glory Hunters
Manure is a fertiliser made up of animal faeces and urine that farmers use to help their crops. When stylised ManUre, it’s what all those who hate Manchester United call their fans.
Manchester United fans are glory hunters. They have the lowest concentration of support in their local area with just 29% of their fans living in Manchester. Despite all the oil money, even City fans have a more loyal local support.
🙏 “90% of our fans are from the local area and are working class people.”
🙌 “We’re the most loyal fans! We proved it! 32,000 fans in the 3rd division!”
🔴 “You’re talking 35% tourist fans at #MUFC, they’re not proper fans!”

Manchester United is the most valuable team in England and 11th most valuable sports team in the entire world, valued at just under £3 billion. But the way in which they’ve done so is something even their own fans hate.
4. Manchester Players Are Dirty
Manchester United are one of the most hated football clubs in England and the players they recruit plays a big part in it. There’s no denying that to become a United player you need to be a good player.
But those who hate Manchester United will hate Cristiano Ronaldo because he’s a diver and he’s arrogant. You’ll hate Roy Keane because he’s a hardened midfielder who’s psychotically outspoken. You’ll despise Wayne Rooney cause all he did was score against your favourite team.
It’s Eric Cantona however that sums up why we all hate Manchester United.
3. Manchester Is Anti-football
The Glazer family owns Manchester United after Malcolm Glazer had taken full ownership of the club in 2005. Most of the purchase was a leveraged buyout, another reason we hate Manchester United.
The majority of the purchase was made with loans which are secured by the clubs assets. After being debt free for so long the purchase meant the club was in debt and levels peaked at £778m in 2010. It’s not ideal for United fans when you see how bankrupt English football clubs have failed in the past. Manchester United continues to bleed money from debt interest and dividends.
Even United fans hate Manchester United and what they’ve become. Former supporters created a member-owned breakaway club in 2005 called FC United of Manchester. To top it all off United co-chairman Joel Glazer wanted to start a breakaway European Super League in 2021.

2. Referee Bias
We all hate Manchester United because the bias referees who award them with favourable decisions. Referees seem to get very nervous particularly near the penalty area at Old Trafford.
Who can forget Michael Owen’s 2009 Manchester derby winner? He scored the winner in the 96th minute of the game. The fourth official had flagged for four minutes of injury time and there was nothing during the period to suggest any more time should’ve been played.
Even former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg admitted that referees have a bias towards Manchester United and particularly during Sir Alex Ferguson’s era at Old Trafford.

1. Red Devil Dominance
A generation of fans hate Manchester United because of how good they were under Sir Alex Ferguson. You’ve got to give them credit. Manchester United won 13 English Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues in a 26-year period under Sir Alex Ferguson.
For those who grew up during the era not following the Red Devils, it only grew our hate for them even further. What makes our blood boil even more is that the United fan base is one of the most negative. Even after 13 titles in 26 years?
STFU already.
